It was quite a busy night for Madonna.
The music icon played a sold-out show at the Xcel Energy Center, her first stop in Minnesota since a two-night stint in 2012 – then headed to Paisley Park to see a show for herself.
First, Madge’s performance:
The Pioneer Press said the 57-year-old seems “unafraid to enjoy herself on stage,” mixing mostly new songs (off her most recent album “Rebel Heart”) with her trademark sexed up visual set pieces.
The Star Tribune called the concert “more playful than provocative” however.

Both papers noted this performance was more fun and light-hearted than her 2012 stop, in support of the MDNA tour – the Star Tribune described those gigs as “disturbingly dark and violent.”
CityPages has a slideshow from last night’s concert, saying she “wow[ed]” the audience.
Madonna and Prince
At one point during the concert, Madonna dedicated the song “La Vie an Rose” to Prince.

And a couple hours later, at Paisley Park, that swung the other way.
The Current’s Andrea Swensson writes she and about 30 other “civilians” were invited to Prince’s Chanhassen hideout for a special event – it turned out to be a Prince performance, with Madonna herself (and accompanying dance troupe) in attendance.
The gig started at about 2 a.m. Swensson writes, and she later saw Madonna “not only in the front row, but had perched on the edge of the stage at Prince’s feet, looking up at him adoringly as he sang.”
Swenson called it a “rare chance to see two megastars share an intimate moment and a series of knowing smiles.” Click through to the story for all the details.
