A 77-68 loss in Los Angeles Sunday afternoon proved costly for the Minnesota Lynx as they wound up getting the No. 7 seed in the WNBA playoffs. Had they won, they would’ve had the No. 6 seed and opened the first round of the playoffs with a home game.
Instead, the Lynx will travel to Seattle for a single-elimination game against the Storm on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
Both teams finished with identical 18-16 records, but the Storm gets home-court advantage because it won the season series against Minnesota, winning three of four games.

- June 4: Storm 84, Lynx 77
- July 17: Storm 90, Lynx 79
- Aug. 18: Storm 82, Lynx 74
If Minnesota loses, their season ends. But with a victory the Lynx will advance to the second round for another win-or-go-home game against No. 4 Las Vegas or No. 3 Los Angeles.
Awaiting in the best-of-five WNBA semifinals are No. 1 Washington and No. 2 Connecticut.
The top two teams after the regular season receive automatic byes into the semifinals, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds get a bye to the second round.
Wednesday’s playoff game between the Lynx and Storm tips off at 9 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
