It’s a one-and-done postseason for the Minnesota Lynx as they fell to the Seattle Storm 84-74 Wednesday night.
Minnesota, in the playoffs for a WNBA record ninth straight season, was the No. 7 seed and had a chance to pull the road upset over sixth-seeded Seattle before going ice cold in the final five minutes of the game.
After a Sylvia Fowles bucket with 5:52 to play in the fourth quarter, the Lynx went nine straight possessions without scoring – and it wasn’t until a Napheesa Collier free throw with 1:11 to play that they scored again.
The biggest difference in the game was Seattle’s starting backcourt outscoring Minnesota’s 48-1. Jordan Canada finished with 26 points and Jewell Lloyd added 22 for Seattle, while Danielle Robinson and Odyssey Sims attempted a combined five shots, making none of them.
Damiris Dantas led the Lynx with 20 points and the likely WNBA Rookie of the Year, Collier, filled the stat sheet with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Seimone Augustus finished with six points, three rebounds and one assist in what might’ve been her final WNBA game. It’s unclear if the six-time All-Star plans to return for a 15th season.
