Gophers hockey coach Don Lucia has a message for fans upset that his team was bounced from the NCAA hockey tournament by Yale last Friday.
On his final radio show of the season last night, Lucia told listeners to “blame me,” according to the Star Tribune.
Lucia’s team, ranked No. 1 or No. 2 for most of the 2012-13 season, lost in overtime to Yale, 3-2, after rallying to tie the game in the third period after falling behind, 2-0.
“Don’t blame the players,” Lucia said. “It was a pretty good run for our guys.”
Minnesota finished the season with a 26-9-5 record, and a share of the WCHA’s MacNaughton Cup, as they tied with St. Cloud State for the regular season conference title.
