Lucas Giolito was dominant on Wednesday afternoon as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins 2-1 to take a three-game series.
The Twins got on the scoreboard first when Nelson Cruz hit a solo home run off Giolito in the third inning. But Cruz’s 10th home run of the season would be just one of two hits the Twins recorded on the afternoon.

With Giolito in full command, the right-hander struck out 11 batters and one run over eight innings to silence the Twins lineup.
While the Twins offense struggled, Adam Eaton tied the game on an infield single in the fifth inning. Although Matt Shoemaker had a solid afternoon, his outing was spoiled when Leurys Garcia delivered an RBI single to give the White Sox the game-winning run.
After Wednesday’s loss, the Twins (14-27) will head to Los Angeles for a doubleheader with the Angels on Thursday.
