Kevin Love shot the lights out but the Timberwolves couldn’t hang on to a fourth quarter lead and they fell to the Spurs in San Antonio, 117-110 Friday night.
Love shot an incredible 8-of-10 on three-pointers en route to a 42-point, 14-rebound performance.
Minnesota used a dominating third quarter in which they outscored the Spurs 35-18 to take a nine-point lead in the final 12 minutes, but the defending Western Conference champs simply outplayed the Wolves in the fourth.
Tony Parker and company did so by outscoring the Wolves 37-21 in the fourth.
Parker paced the Spurs, slicing and dicing his way to the basket all night long, with 29 points and six assists.
Nikola Pekovic played well for the Wolves, finishing with a double-double of his own (18 points, 11 rebounds). Ricky Rubio had 15 points, eight assists and four steals.
At the end of the day, it’s tough to win a game when the opponent shoots the lights out… and the Spurs did, shooting a blistering 55.8 percent for the game.
