After missing just his second game of the season on Wednesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Love will try to play through some pain when the Timberwolves play the Pelicans in New Orleans Friday night.
A stiff neck – a result from a hard fall to the court in a game against the Lakers on Tuesday – kept Love out of Minnesota’s 109-99 loss to the Thunder. He’s still in pain, but he’ll try to give it a go against the Pelicans.
“I’m feeling a little bit better, still pretty sore,” he told the Star Tribune. “But I’m going to give it a go tonight.”
Love slammed his tailbone and head against the Target Center court when he lost his balance going up for a shot against the Lakers. He said it was a “scary moment” and he could only watch the replay once.
Minnesota beat the Pelicans at Target Center in a low scoring game, 88-79 on Jan. 29. Love stuffed the box score with 30 points and 14 rebounds, but he didn’t have to go up against Pelicans sophomore sensation Anthony Davis, who missed the game with a dislocated finger. Davis will play this time around.
Davis is already one of the best players in the NBA. Kevin Love is a perennial All-Star, but is he better than Davis? Bleacher Report says it’s a close call, but the center for the Pelicans is already better than Love.
