The Timberwolves haven’t been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but the reality is they won’t be playing after the final regular season game on April 16.
With just 13 games remaining the Wolves are seven games out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference playoff race. The frustration of failing to reach the playoffs for a tenth consecutive year is evident within the fanbase, and now the players, specifically Kevin Love, are revealing their discontentment, too.
Deadspin profiled the Wolves on Tuesday in an article titled “Kevin Love is a Broken Man.” It referenced the hopeless interview (video above) Love gave following Minnesota’s most recent loss, a 109-92 defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
But as the Star Tribune points out, Love isn’t the only broken, frustrated man on the team.
“It’s always frustrating when things don’t go your way,” head coach Rick Adelman told Jerry Zgoda. “But it also tells you about people when you’re going through frustration. How do you react to that? In this league you have to be resilient. You have to react. I know Kevin’s frustrated. I am, too. When I take him out of the game, it seems like we can’t find too many answers. That’s just the way it is right now.
‘‘I’m frustrated I haven’t been able to find a more consistent rotation. But I don’t know, you just keep trying things.”
