It wasn’t quite the night that Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love had hoped for. Not only was K-Love the first shooter of the night, he was also the first shooter eliminated in the NBA’s 3-point contest on Saturday night.
Marco Belinelli won the contest as he scored 19 in the first to eliminate Love and beat Damon Lillard’s 18.
Belinelli then posted 19 in the championship round tying Bradley Beal to force a tiebreaker. Belinelli then scored a 24 in the tiebreaker and beat Beal to win the three-point crown.
Love, the 2012 champion, struggled on his “money ball” rack, making just one of five on the double-point rack.
He wasn’t the only favorite to struggle. Golden State’s Stephen Curry also wasn’t able to get on a roll and couldn’t get out of the first round.
