Kevin Love is the Western Conference Player of the Week, the NBA announced today. Love is off to a blazing start in leading the Timberwolves to a 3-0 record through one week of play.
Wolves general manager Flip Saunders told KFAN-FM 100.3 earlier today that Love is playing at MVP level. The numbers back up the bold claim.
- Points: 29.7 (1st in NBA)
- Rebounds: 14.7 (2nd in NBA)
- Free throws made: 31 (2nd in NBA)
- Free throws attempted: 39 (2nd in NBA)
- Double-doubles: 3 (T-1st in NBA)
Meanwhile, Love and Corey Brewer have been warned for flopping during the Timberwolves’ 109-100 win over the Knicks Sunday night.
What is flopping, you ask? NBA.com has the answer.
“Flopping” will be defined as any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player. The primary factor in determining whether a player committed a flop is whether his physical reaction to contact with another player is inconsistent with what would reasonably be expected given the force or direction of the contact.
