At the third time of asking, Minnesota United finally left the turf at Allianz Field as winners, recording a 1-0 victory over DC United on Sunday afternoon.
A goal from Colombian forward Angelo Rodriguez in the 82nd minute was enough to secure the 3 points, after United’s first two games at their new home finished 3-3 (vs. NYCFC) and 0-0 (vs. LA Galaxy).
A cross from Romain Metanire on the right was glanced in by Rodriguez, sending the capacity crowd into raptures.

DC entered the game atop the MLS Eastern Conference, and brought with them the decorated English striker Wayne Rooney, but were unable to break the deadlock as the Loons defense stood firm.
The win puts Minnesota 4-3-2 for the season and 6th in the Western Conference.
Pleasingly for boss Adrian Heath, it’s two clean sheets in a row for his team, who had shipped 7 goals in the two games prior to the Galaxy visiting on Wednesday.
