Pat Dean grew up dreaming to pitch for the New York Yankees, but as he towed the rubber for the first time against the Bronx Bombers it turned out to be more of a nightmare. New York beat Minnesota 8-2 Friday night.
Dean lasted just 2.1 innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits while walking three. One of those hits was a two-run homer by Carlos Beltran in the first.

Dean’s struggles on Friday night caused his ERA to jump by more than a run. Now every Twins starter this season has an earned run average over five.
