Before Monday night, the last time Francisco Liriano pitched against the White Sox in Chicago, he threw a no-hitter. It was almost nothing but hits Monday night, however, as the trade commodity allowed seven earned runs in 2.2 innings — his worst start since returning from the minors in May.
Brian Duensing, back into his role as a long-reliever, spelled Liriano for four scoreless innings of relief. Alex Burnett pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to keep the Twins’ bullpen moving in the right direction.
Ryan Doumit homered for the Twins. It was his third home run in the last two days, and 10th of the year.
