Liam Robbins is the seventh player from the 2020-21 Gopher men’s basketball roster to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to numerous reports.
Robbins, a 7-footer who was one of the best big men in the conference before an ankle injury limited his production and availability late in the season, averaged 11.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and a Big Ten-leading 2.7 blocks for the Gophers this season.
Robbins joins fellow starters Marcus Carr and Gabe Kalscheur, along with Jamal Mashburn Jr., Tre’ Williams, Sam Freeman and Martice Mitchell in the transfer portal.
Meanwhile, new Gophers coach Ben Johnson has brought in three players from the transfer portal: Jamison Battle (George Washington), E.J. Stephens (Lafayette) and Luke Loewe (William & Mary).
Robbins played just one season for the Gophers. He transferred from Drake University to the University of Minnesota, where he was on the team with assistant coach Ed Conroy, who is his uncle.
It’s unclear if Johnson will retain Conroy as part of his coaching staff at the U.
