Well, here we are.
The 2013 NBA season is just around the corner, and its a big year for your Timberwolves.
Kevin Love is back, Kevin Martin is here, Nikola Pekovic is locked up, and Corey Brewer version 2.0 graces Target Center (hopefully better than version 1.0).
The one thing about the Wolves offseason that is a question mark? Did they make the right choices in the NBA Draft.
Let’s recap.
Minnesota originally held the No. 9 pick, with which they selected Michigan point guard Trey Burke.
They then traded Burke to Utah, receiving the 14th and 21st picks, with which they selected UCLA forward Shabazz Muhammad and Louisville center Gorgui Dieng.
The reason for the trade is point guard Ricky Rubio, who is firmly entrenched as one of the building blocks in this Minnesota organization.
That brings us to where we are today.
Was trading your top pick Burke and drafting Muhammad as your top rookie the right call? Was keeping Rubio, who hasn’t made a significant impact on the Wolves organization yet, the right choice when Burke was yours? Will Burke follow up his great NCAA tournament with more moments like this for Utah?

Time will tell, and we will have to wait a bit longer on Burke, who will have surgery on a broken finger, which is expected to keep him out two to three months.
Instantly, that gives Muhammad and Rubio some leeway in this season-long handicap match.
As for those two, Yahoo! Sports thinks Rubio may be in for a big year, while Muhammad did some things at camp that impressed coaches.
That will tide us over for a month or so at the least, but we’ll keep tabs on Burke’s recovery and how Rubio and Muhammad progress through the first few weeks of the season and get back to you when we feel it necessary.
