The presence of former Gophers quarterback Adam Weber is already being felt at Gopher spring football practice.
Weber, who is Minnesota’s all-time passing leader, returned to the Gophers program as an offensive graduate assistant. The hope is that he will be able to work with quarterback coach Jim Zebrowski to provide some first hand knowledge to current Gophers QB Mitch Leidner.
FOX 9 caught up with both Gophers coach Jerry Kill and Leidner to see how things have been going so far.

Weber owns many of Minnesota’s school passing records. From 2007-10 he set several marks including total passing yards (10,917), completions (909), touchdown passes (72) and games started (50).
He’s hoping to pass on some of the finer things he learned about playing quarterback with the Gophers and in the NFL to Leidner.
“Trying to pass on little things that I learned along the way and just be a resource, someone they can ask questions and feel comfortable talking with,” said Weber to the Pioneer Press.
Weber admitted that he’s still learning the Gophers offense, but that shouldn’t be a problem for him. The Star Tribune notes that he went through four offensive coordinators during his time with the Gophers and also went through two or three different offenses in the pros.
At 6-foot-4 and 236 pounds, Weber knowns that Leidner has all of the physical tools to play quarterback. He said it’s now a matter of seeing him relax going into his second full year of being the starter.
“It’s about training your eyes and just committing to the read and not trying to make the play bigger or more than it is,” Weber said. “Trying to make these plays as simple as possible, so they can go out there and play at a high level and play to the best of their ability.”
