The Minnesota Timberwolves fell to the Milwaukee Bucks 105-98 in an exhibition game on Friday night in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A couple of rookies played well in the game, just not for the Wolves.
Milwaukee’s Jabari Parker had a big night. He led the way with 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double, while O.J. Mayo added 19 off the bench. Giannis Antetkounmpo also added 19.
The Wolves were playing without Ricky Rubio. He was given the night off. But without Rubio the Wolves got off to a slow start. The Bucks outscored them by 10 in the first quarter and maintained the lead through the first half.
Zach LaVine got the run at point guard. It wasn’t his best night, he was just 2-of-8 shooting and scored just four points. He also had six turnovers and just two assists.
It was also a fairly quiet night for Andrew Wiggins. He finished with 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Minnesota battled back in the second half, but couldn’t catch up. Gorgui Dieng led the way with 16 points and Anthony Bennett had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Chase Budinger, who has been the subject of trade rumors this week, added 13 off the bench.
The Wolves (1-2) play at Oklahoma City (2-2) on Sunday.
