A round of applause to all the Twins fans who stuck it out for Tuesday night’s 11-4 win over the Oakland A’s – which finished at 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Tuesday’s storms led to the latest start in Target Field history, with the first pitch thrown at 9:52 p.m., and a game lasting just over three hours left fans bleary-eyed by the time they exited the stadium.
The Star Tribune reports the announced crowd of 16,938 was already the smallest in Target Field history as fans stayed away as severe storms rolled into the Twin Cities.
But that crowd had dwindled by the time the game started, and by the end of the night was likely in the low thousands as the Twins wrapped up victory.

Those who bought tickets for the game – which was delayed by 2 hours and 42 minutes – are able to exchange their tickets for Wednesday’s game, and that includes those who actually stayed for the match, the Twins announced.
Tickets can be exchanged at the Target Field ticket office on Target Plaza, off 7th Street.
Spare a thought for the players as well, they’ll get a break of just 11 hours between the end of Tuesday night’s game and the series closer, which gets underway at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
