Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr. hasn’t lost track of where he came from. Fitzgerald, an eight-time Pro Bowler, still takes time to give back to people in his home state of Minnesota.
WCCO highlights Fitzgerald’s latest act of kindness. He teamed up with Dick’s Sporting Goods Tuesday to take a group of athletes from his football camp on a shopping spree.

“That’s really what it’s about, it’s about giving the opportunity to kids who might not have the opportunity to do some of those things,” Fitzgerald told the station. “I was one of those kids that needed a little help from time to time.”
Long before Fitzgerald was an upper-echelon player for the Cardinals, he was a standout wide receiver at Holy Angels in Richfield. He has long been known for his generosity, especially with groups that help children and families.

Fitzgerald still has roots in Minnesota and returns every summer to host the youth camp at his former high school.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is the sponsor of the camp, which provided 10 young athletes with $100 gift cards that Fitzgerald was happy to help them use at the Richfield Dick’s store.

WCCO notes that Fitzgerald also supports several breast cancer organizations. He lost his mother to the disease while he was in college.
