As expected, the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday made the Dan Bailey signing official, announcing that he’s inked a one-year deal to be their new kicker.
Bailey replaces rookie Daniel Carlson, who was cut Monday less than 24 hours after he pushed a trio of field goals wide right in Sunday’s 29-29 tie with the Packers, including two in overtime.
Bailey is in, and so is Laquon Treadwell, who avoids being cut despite an immense amount of scrutiny following multiple key drops against the Packers.
Instead, the Vikings have released wide receiver Stacey Coley.
If Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen get injured, the Vikings will have to give Treadwell, Brandon Zylstra or Aldrick Robinson, whom they signed on Monday, the No. 2 receiver job.
Pro Football Talk notes that another reason Treadwell is still on the roster probably has to do with the fact that his $1.35 million salary is guaranteed for 2018, so whether he’s on the team or not he gets paid.
Through two weeks Treadwell has four receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown, which came before his untimely drops at Lambeau Field.
