For a first-round draft pick whose Twitter name is “@SuccessfulQuon,” Laquon Treadwell has been anything but successful in two seasons with the Vikings.
Last season, Treadwell had 20 catches for 200 yards and no touchdowns, numbers that actually pale in comparison to a single game by Terrell Owens in 2000 in which he had 20 receptions for 283 yards and a touchdown against the Bears.
Treadwell is supposed to be closer to Owens than Troy Williamson, but the big-bodied former Ole Miss All-American is closing in on bust status entering his third year in the league.
“So far, so good,” said head coach Mike Zimmer when asked about Treadwell on Tuesday. “He’s done a nice job. He’s caught the ball well this spring.”

But Treadwell appeared to get defensive when sports reporter Darren Wolfson asked him if he’s ready to prove some people wrong this season: “I ain’t gotta prove nobody wrong, just myself,” he said before cutting off the end of his media session.
It certainly seems like Treadwell is directing some of the blame for his lack of production on last year’s offensive scheme and quarterback Case Keenum, saying new quarterback Kirk Cousins is “actually targeting me” while adding that he likes that John DeFilippo’s offense doesn’t allow defenses to “pinpoint” who’s getting the ball.
DeFilippo is in his first year with the Vikings, replacing Pat Shurmur, who was hired as head coach of the New York Giants.
