Lakeville North’s JP Macura, a sought-after basketball recruit, announced Monday via Twitter that he has chosen to commit to Xavier.
Macura, who visited Xavier last weekend, had a scholarship offer from first-year Gophers coach Richard Pitino.
He was considered the fourth-best player in the 2014 class after Big Three prospects Tyus Jones, Rashad Vaughn and Reid Travis.
The 6-foot-5 Macura made several unofficial visits to the University of Minnesota campus this summer, reports the Pioneer Press, but only took two other official visits to Butler and Creighton. He said his three finalists were Xavier, Creighton and Minnesota.
Speaking of those other recruits, the Star Tribune checks up on several here.
