Ultra athletic, sharpshooting Lakeville North guard JP Macura hadn’t received much attention from Tubby Smith and his staff in recruiting.
Richard Pitino set out to change that, and has in the biggest way, making the senior-to-be a scholarship offer.
Macura confirmed it on his Twitter account.

Macura is ranked 126 in the nation by Rivals, one of the top scouting services for high school players in the major sports, and those in scouting circles have seemed to believe if Macura got an offer from the U of M, he would take it.
That remains to be seen, Macura visited Butler on June 27, but with the departure of Bulldogs head coach Brad Stevens for the NBA’s Boston Celtics on July 3, that may have changed his outlook on the soon-to-be Big East school.
