Josh Harding was supposed to start in goal Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, but he’s feeling slightly “off” from medication he’s taking for his multiple sclerosis.
Harding says it’s a one-game decision and he wanted to “take care of it right now.”
Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher commended Harding for being honest about his situation, saying “it’s in his best interest and our team’s best interest.”
Starting in Harding’s place will be rookie Darcy Kuemper, who will make his NHL debut after being recalled from Houston earlier in the day.
The Wild also activated defenseman Jared Spurgeon off injured reserve. He missed the previous nine games with a foot injury.
To make room for Kuemper and Spurgeon the team sent Marco Scandella back to Houston and waived forward Matt Kassian.
