Wild captain Mikko Koivu celebrated his 500th regular-season NHL game with the deciding goal in a 2-1 shootout win over Calgary Monday night.
“It’s nice to get a goal,” Koivu said. “But it doesn’t matter who gets the winner … it’s a team win right there.”
The win was the first on the road for the Wild this season. Koivu, in an interview with Fox Sports North afterwards, hopes it will give Minnesota “more confidence” away from Xcel Energy Center in the days ahead.
