Leave it to Golden Gophers women’s basketball star Rachel Banham to interrupt Kobe Bryant’s farewell tour in the NBA.
Banham tied an NCAA Division I women’s basketball record by scoring 60 points in Minnesota’s double overtime win over Northwestern on Sunday, and ever since she’s been getting assists from some of the biggest names in sports, the most recent being Kobe.
Congrats on the 60 @rachelbanham15 From what I've seen I don't think it will be the last time you hit that mark https://t.co/JAUgAiadW3

Hey @kobebryant, what do you think about one of your fans, @GopherWBB's Rachel Banham, hitting 60 points in a game? https://t.co/jgHJLCnMkT

Banham, whose 25.8 points per game this season ranks third in the country, responded with a tweet of her own thanking her all-time favorite player.
“I’ve watched clips of when he had 81 and that really gets me pumped. He’s an incredible player and an incredible scorer,” Banham told Big Ten Network.
Kobe has scored 60 or more in a game five times in his career.
