Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points to lead the New York Knicks over the Timberwolves, 100-94 Friday night at Target Center.
Anthony poured in 12 points in the fourth quarter — a comeback quarter — in which the Knicks rallied from an 11 point deficit with less than 7:19 left in the game. New York closed the contest on a 24-7 run.
Despite losing for the 14th time in 16 games, the Wolves got another sign that Ricky Rubio is returning to the form that made him a star his rookie season. Rubio finished with a season-high 18 points and 11 assists.
Luke Ridnour had 20 points, Derrick Williams finished with 19 and Nikola Pekovic had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Minnesota’s terrible three-point shooting continued. The hit just 1-13 attempts from beyond the arc.
The Knicks had originally planned to fly back to New York Friday night, but the crippling snowstorm on the east coast will keep them in Minnesota until at least Saturday.
