Chris Kluwe was lauded by many while in Minnesota for his stand against the same-sex marriage amendment; but now a tweet about his days in training camp in Mankato have some people cursing the former Vikings punter.
The Mankato Free Press reports that that a Twitter war erupted Tuesday when Kluwe tweeted a quip about being better off at home in Napa, Calif. (he punts now for the Oakland Raiders) than returning with the Vikings to Mankato, although he misspelled capital.

According to the Free Press, Kluwe’s tweets were met with ire. One tweet said to the athlete-activist said, “You can go (blank) yourself. We didn’t want your (word for bottom) complaining around here anymore, anyway. Too cold? Grow some balls, sally.”
Kluwe replied to the tweet, noting his love for his former training camp home.

While the tweet on the surface may appear like a random slam, the author of the Free Press article noted how Kluwe was “kind of right.”
“Blue Earth County, for whatever reason, has long been a state leader in chlamydia cases,” wrote Robb Murray. “In the most recent report on the subject from the Minnesota Department of Health, Ramsey County and Hennepin are understandably tops with the most cases per 100,000. Followed by then are Beltrami County and Blue Earth County.”
Kluwe noted the facts in another tweet.

The punter also replied to a critical tweet by City Pages’ Aaron Rupar, saying, “I didn’t just make something up for the sake of starting (expletive). We were legitimately told that as a warning.”
