Kirk Cousins had one of the worst games of his career on Sunday as the Indianapolis Colts handed the Minnesota Vikings a 28-11 beating at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 2.
While there were many issues that contributed to the Vikings’ performance, Cousins stole the show. Cousins completed 11-of-26 passes for 113 yards and threw three interceptions on the afternoon as the Vikings’ offense sputtered to 175 total yards.
Although a 21-yard field goal by Dan Bailey on the opening drive put the Vikings ahead, the Colts proceeded to execute their ground game to perfection with Jonathan Taylor scoring his first NFL touchdown to put the Colts ahead 7-3.
The Colts never looked back after Cousins took his second safety in as many weeks to extend the lead and Rodrigo Blankenship added a couple of field goals to send Indianapolis to the locker room with a 15-3 lead at halftime.
The second half didn’t provide relief as the Colts dominated time of possession and added three more field goals from Blankenship and a Philip Rivers touchdown pass to Zach Pascal to put the Vikings in a 28-3 hole.
Dalvin Cook scored a touchdown and two-point conversion with just over five minutes left in the game but it was way too late to make this game close.
The Vikings fall to 0-2 with the loss and will host the Tennessee Titans and U.S. Bank Stadium next Sunday.
