Injured Wild star Kirill Kaprizov has been named an All-Star for the third time in his four-year career.
The 26-year-old winger is the team’s leading points scorer with 13 goals and 21 assists this season for the 16-16-4 Wild. In his four-year career, Kaprizov has scored 127 goals and tallied 141 assists for Minnesota, winning the 2020-21 Calder Memorial Trophy as the rookie of the year.
Kaprizov was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after sustaining an upper-body injury in Saturday’s loss to the Jets. The Athletic’s Michael Russo reported that Kaprizov had suffered broken ribs from a pair of cross-checks from Winnipeg’s Brenden Dillon.
Kaprizov is the first player in Wild history to be named to three consecutive All-Star games, joining former Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who made three consecutive All-Star appearances from the 2014-15 season to the 2016-17 season.
The 2024 All-Star Games will take place in Toronto from Feb. 1-3 with a mix of skills competitions and the return of the four-team, three-on-three tournament.
