Talk about taking a big hit on the market. Former Timberwolves forward Andrei Kirilenko signed a two-year deal with the Nets where he’ll make approximately $3.1 million per season.
Kirilenko could have opted for a one-year, $10 million player option to stay with the Wolves, but he took the risk to hit free agency and ended up with nearly $7 million less.
Michael Rand wonders if Kirilenko made a mistake by opting out of his player option, or perhaps wanted to play for the Nets because fellow Russian Mikhail Prokhorov owns the team.
Kirilenko averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 rebounds last season with the Timberwolves.
