A potential buyer’s group including Kevin Garnett is out of the process to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Hall of Famer shared the news on his Instagram account where he explained that his group is “going to focus on other things.”
“Just got the news that this process in trying to acquire the TWOLVES IS OVER for me n my group,” Garnett said. “Thx [Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor] for being yourself and what I Kno you to be!! GOOD LUCK n aww the best with WHAT WE BUILT! GUESS ITS TIME FOCUS ON OTHER PLACES!”
According to KSTP-TV’s Darren Wolfson, “more than 10 groups made an inquiry” to buy the team, but the group involving Garnett was not one of them. Taylor also said the groups finishing their due diligence and that the process has “picked up.”

After Taylor hired Tom Thiboudeau as Flip Saunders’ successor of president of basketball operations in 2015, Garnett sent some firey comments towards Taylor during an interview with The Athletic last April.
“At this point, I don’t want any dealings with Glen Taylor or Taylor Corp. or anything that has to do with him,” Garnett said. “I’ll always have a special place for the city of Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota in my heart. But I don’t do business with snakes.”
When Taylor announced he was selling the Timberwolves last July, Garnett put together a group to potentially buy the franchise.
Taylor told the Pioneer Press that it was “not a good time to sell” due to the pandemic, but it appears things have picked up in the process without Garnett’s group.
