A special guest suited up for the Indians game against Twins in Cleveland on Sunday, but only for warm-ups.
The Star Tribune reports that Kevin Costner took batting practice, threw the ball in the outfield and fielded grounders at shortstop before the game.
The actor, who currently stars as Jonathan Kent in the hit movie “Man of Steel,” also took the time to chat with several players and coaches.
Costner, of course, is no stranger to baseball, having starred in the hit movies “Bull Durham,” “Field of Dreams” and “For Love of the Game.”
Oddly enough, the actor is in Cleveland filming the football movie “Draft Day,” where he stars as a Browns’ executive attempting to acquire the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.
Dressed in an Indians uniform, Costner hit several line drives off of pitches from Cleveland bullpen coach Kevin Cash.
“I was actually glad I made contact because I haven’t swung in a couple years,” Costner says, adding that he thought his chances of swinging though the ball were about as fouling it off.
The Indians apparently could have used Costner’s help during the game Sunday, which the Twins won 5-3.
