The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped their seventh straight game on Saturday night, falling in overtime to the San Antonio Spurs 125-122.
The story of the night for the Timberwolves was the return of Towns. The star center returned after missing six games with a dislocated wrist and showed no signs of rust, putting up 25 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

With KAT back in the lineup, the Timberwolves battled to a six-point lead after the first quarter. The Spurs had an answer in the second quarter behind the efforts of Keldon Johnson, who put up 14 points in the first half and 17 on the night to help San Antonio head into the locker room with a 60-58 lead at halftime.
With the game within reach, the Timberwolves got a boost from Naz Reid in the third quarter. Reid had a solid game off the bench, adding 16 points, seven rebounds, and a big three-pointer at the end of the quarter to give Minnesota a two-point lead heading into the final frame.

The Wolves held onto their advantage throughout the fourth quarter thanks to Malik Beasley’s 29 points. Although the Spurs grabbed a brief lead late in the fourth quarter, Anthony Edwards buried a three-pointer to put the Wolves ahead.

The final minute saw both teams go back and forth as San Antonio turned to DeMar Rozan, who scored a game-high 38 points. With the Spurs holding onto a one-point lead, D’Angelo Russell hit another big three to put Minnesota on top.

The Wolves could not hold onto the lead, however, as Rozan hit a pair of free throws to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame, the Spurs took over, outscoring Minnesota 12-9 to put the game away.
With the loss, the Wolves fall to 2-7 on the season and will have a rematch with the Spurs at Target Center on Sunday night.
