The Minnesota Timberwolves received some bad news on Sunday night as Karl-Anthony Towns was diagnosed with a dislocated wrist and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis moving forward.
Towns suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s win over Utah but returned for the final minutes of the contest. Towns said the wrist was “pretty sore” after the game and was evaluated by a specialist in Los Angeles to reveal the extent of the injury.
The injury is concerning considering it’s the same wrist that Towns broke last February, which caused him to miss the final 12 games of the Timberwolves’ season before the COVID-19 shutdown.
The good news is that Towns will not need surgery on the list but is expected to miss time, meaning that he’ll miss an opportunity to play with D’Angelo Russell, who the Timberwolves acquired to be a fellow cornerstone with Towns last February.
Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell shared the floor for 25 minutes last season before KAT broke his wrist and was shut down for the season.
This season KAT and DLo got to 33 minutes on the floor together before another wrist injury for KAT.

Towns was off to a strong start as the Timberwolves won their first two games, posting 19 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in those contests. With Towns out of the lineup, the Timberwolves will likely turn to Naz Reid and Ed Davis for extended playing time.
