When asked Wednesday if Minnesota still feels like a second home for him, Karl-Anthony Towns didn’t really give a very convincing answer.
“You know, I think that I’ve done a lot of things here. I’m very proud of the things I’ve been able to do so far,” said Towns. “But I have a lot of things that have to be talked about, so I’ll move on.”
His comment begins at the 1:48 mark of the video.
It was the first time since the season ended that Towns had talked to the media, but his representatives warned media members that he only wanted to talk about the basketball camp he was hosting in Plymouth, and that he could cut the interview short if any outside questions were asked.
That meant reporters didn’t get a chance to ask Towns about his contract situation, or reports that have suggested he’s unhappy with the team’s front office and that Jimmy Butler is fed up with him.
Wolves owner Glen Taylor recently told Darren Wolfson that he believes Towns will sign a five-year max extension with the Wolves, but it’s unclear when it could happen. Towns has one year remaining on his rookie contract.
If he doesn’t sign a max extension before the season starts he’ll become a restricted free agent next summer.
The 22 year old averaged 21.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists last season and shot 54.5 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three.
