Karl-Anthony Towns took a page from the Stefon Diggs playbook by giving a cryptic response when asked about trade rumors involving his name.
Appearing on The Pat Bev Podcast with his former Minnesota teammate Patrick Beverley, Towns joked that “everyone’s trying to sell my house but me” and then summed up the rumors and speculation with a line that opened the door for more speculation.
“The rumors are as true or as false as Minnesota makes them to be,” Towns said.
That’s the kind of brain-exploding comment that will keep people wondering what’s going on. Towns, like so many before him, had an opportunity to squash rumors and say he believes he’ll be back with the Timberwolves in 2023-24. But nope, he wasn’t about to go in that direction, instead leaving people to swim in muddied thoughts.
Earlier this week, Timberwolves insider Jon Krawczynski said on his podcast that he believes it is “far more likely” the Wolves “run it back” with Towns and Rudy Gobert in the double big man experiment than it is they trade Towns.

“I’m going to be of the mind that it’s far more likely that they run it back with Towns, Edwards, Gobert and McDaniels than they make some sort of sea change trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns,” Krawczynski said.
Remember in 2020 when Diggs, who played for the Vikings at the time, said “there’s truth to all rumors” when he was asked about his name being in the rumor mill? A month later Diggs was traded to the Bills.
Could something similar happen with Towns? Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus reported recently that rival executives believe Towns could be traded in a matter of weeks. The Big Purr couldn’t swatted the rumors to the side, but he didn’t.
Good luck trying to figure out what it all means…
