Matt Kalil’s string of 57 consecutive NFL starts is in jeopardy as the Vikings host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Kalil returned to practice Friday on a limited bases after missing practices Wednesday and Thursday. Officially the team lists Kalil as questionable as he deals with a toe injury.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Thursday that he expects Kalil to play on Sunday.
Kalil has been an iron man of sorts for the Vikings since he was drafted with the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. According to 1500 ESPN, not only has Kalil not missed a game over his four-year NFL career – he hasn’t even missed a single snap.
The team notes that questionable means there is a roughly 50 percent chance the player will be able to play in the game.
If Kalil is unable to go, rookie seventh round pick, Austin Shepherd, would likely get the start in his place.
Other Vikings injury notes:
Safety Robert Blanton (back) was limited in Friday’s practice, he’s also questionable to play. While linebacker Eric Kendricks (ribs) returned to practice this week. He is listed as probable for Sunday’s game.
