Kai Forbath is returning to the Vikings on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.
The veteran kicker made a career-high 32 field goals in 2017, and helped fans trust kickers again when he buried a clutch field goal late in Minnesota’s unlikely playoff win over the Saints.
Trailing 21-20, Forbath drilled a 53-yarder to put Minnesota up 23-21 with 90 seconds to play. The Saints came back to take the lead on a field goal, but that simply set the stage for the greatest miracle in Minnesota sports history.
Granted, Forbath missed 5 extra points, but at least he’s got some stones in the clutch. That’s a lot better than dealing with the fallout of Blair Walsh’s 27-yard miss in 2015 and Gary Anderson’s fatal 39-yard whiff in 1998.
