The Minnesota Vikings will introduce Josh Freeman to the fans under the bright lights of MetLife Stadium in the concrete jungle that is New York City on Monday Night Football.
Coach Leslie Frazier made the announcement that Freeman would get the start during a media scrum today at the team’s practice facility in Eden Prairie.

Frazier added that Christian Ponder will serve as the backup QB.
Freeman was acquired via free agency after the Buccaneers released the five-year pro before week five.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported last night that the Vikings were hoping Freeman could soak up enough of the playbook to start, so he clearly has done enough to make Frazier and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave feel comfortable putting him out there.
Which Freeman will the Vikings get?
The 6-foot-6 former first-round pick mixed in brilliance and bust during his days in Tampa Bay. In 2010 he threw for 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions. In 2011 he fired 16 touchdowns and was picked off 22 times. Last season he had 25 touchdowns to only eight interceptions through 13 games, but he finished the season’s final three games with just two touchdowns and nine picks.
The winless Giants are currently favored by four points.
