Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson had no regrets about his ejection against the Chicago White Sox earlier this week, stating that MLB umpires “have no accountability” and they “don’t care” about making the right calls.

“If the umpire consistently isn’t doing his job correctly, that’s affecting our careers, that’s affecting our success,” Donaldson said in a Zoom call on Saturday.
“At the end of the day, there’s no reprimand, no accountability for the guys that are making the decision. As a matter of fact, they don’t care. They don’t care at all, most of them. They just want to get the game over with, for the most part, and it’s pretty sad because guys are making six figures a year and there’s no accountability.”
Donaldson was ejected in the sixth inning of Thursday’s game when he kicked dirt over home plate after hitting a home run. Donaldson was upset with home plate umpire Dan Bellino over a strike call early in the at-bat and the result got him tossed.

Although his ejection came in the middle of a game with American League Central ramifications, Donaldson showed little remorse for his actions.
“This is my livelihood,” Donaldson explained. “This is part of what makes me the player that I am. At the end of the day, if I have something that’s on my chest, that’s just going to be what it is.”
