Make it five straight wins for the Twins as they rallied to beat the Royals 3-1 Monday night at Target Field.
Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, the Twins tied the game on an RBI groundout by Eddie Rosario and then took the lead when Brian Dozier scored on Eduardo Escobar’s single to center field.
Joe Mauer made it a 3-1 game with an RBI single to center in the eighth inning.
On the mound, Jose Berrios was once again masterful. The young right-handed was named to the All-Star Game on Sunday, and he backed it up seven really strong innings. He struck out eight and allowed just one run on six hits and no walks.
Berrios is now 9-7 with a 3.41 ERA. Opponents are batting just .210 against him this season.
Minnesota is now 40-48 on the season but still 8 1/2 games behind Cleveland in the division.
