The uber-athletic Joe Webb, who has been converted to a wide receiver in the Vikings’ new offensive scheme, tried something else today at OTA No. 5 (they’re numbered now).
Webb, according to various reports, was fielding punts with special teams coach Mike Priefer.
After practice, however, head coach Leslie Frazier said he thinks of Webb more as kickoff returner — and was just giving him repetitions. Frazier did admit, though, that if Webb returned one 60-yards, he might have to change his mind.
That being said, now that Percy Harvin is gone to Seattle, the Vikings may be looking for a lightning-in-the-bottle kick returner, and it makes sense to give Webb a few looks.
