OK, I have voluntarily wasted a couple hours trying to fill out my bracket.
It’s time well spent. These bragging rights last a lifetime. Believe me – I won an office pool in 2009 and to this day, those people still receive routine reminders from me about how I took their money.
My rules are simple: Pick a sleeper into the Sweet 16 and start bragging. Lose half of your Final Four teams and hide your face, because all hope is lost and your money and/or pride is gone. Good luck getting that back.
Been there. Done that.
Anyway, I don’t have any massive upsets this year. I did the research and can’t see a team like Mercer or North Dakota State playing the role of Cinderella. In fact, I don’t have any team seeded 12 or lower advancing.
That’s probably dumb because it always happens, but I wasn’t getting positive sleeper vibes this year. The fact of the matter is that a 16 seed has never won, only seven 15 seeds have won a game, 14 seeds rarely advance and the run of six-straight years with at least one 13-seed winning has to end.
My Final Four: Florida, Creighton, Louisville, Michigan State
Championship: Florida over Creighton
Here’s my bracket, the left side on top and the right side on the bottom.
And the right side:
