As soon as the New York Jets drafted quarterback Sam Darnold with the third pick in the NFL Draft, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Teddy Bridgewater’s future in New York is in doubt.
But Rapoport wasn’t simply suggesting that Darnold’s presence could make Bridgewater the odd man out, he was reporting that the Jets have questions about Bridgewater’s health.
For starters, Bridgewater and Josh McCown were expected to compete for the job before the Jets moved up three spots to get Darnold, and USA Today says it’s unlikely that they’ll keep all three.

Pro Football Talk then tweeted that it’ll be a major surprise if Bridgewater makes the Jets’ 53-man roster for the simple fact that his one year, $15 million contract only includes $500,000 in guaranteed money.

Cutting McCown, according to USA Today, would cost the Jets $10 million.
Bridgewater took just nine snaps with the Vikings in 2017 after missing the entire 2016 season with a knee injury.
