Minnesota Gophers head coach Jerry Kill will likely be a spectator for a second straight game when the Gophers host Nebraska on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium, according to FOX Sports North.
“He’s going through to building back up what he needs to do to get back,” acting head coach Tracy Claeys said. “He’ll be in and out as he feels. He’s got a process of what he’s got to go through. The better he feels, he likes to come around and be around the kids.”
Kill has been away from the team since suffering a game-day seizure before the Michigan game Oct. 5, although he was reportedly in his office at the University of Minnesota on Sunday and Monday.
STILL NO QUARTERBACK DECISION
Claeys wanted to name his starter on Tuesday, but redshirt freshman Mitch Leidner came down with an illness and hasn’t been at full strength. Claeys plans on waiting to announce the starter until Leidner gets a chance to practice later this week, according to the Pioneer Press.
Leidner and sophomore Philip Nelson have battled for the starting job all season. Leidner started last week’s 20-17 win at Northwestern, but it was Nelson leading the way to victory in the second half.
