Big news for the Minnesota Wild as its expected that Jared Spurgeon will return to the blue line for their best-of-seven series against the Winnipeg Jets.
Spurgeon returned to the ice on Monday with the Wild saying he was nearing a return.
“It’s fun to get out there with some guys,” Spurgeon said Monday, via Wild.com. “Take it day by day, hopefully it responds well and go from there.”
Apparently his day went well because he was paired with Charlie Coyle on defense during the power play portion of practice Tuesday, reports The Athletic’s Michael Russo.

Seeing Spurgeon already back in the defensive pairings is a bit surprising considering he was ruled out for at least a month after partially tearing his hamstring in a game against Colorado on Mar. 13.
With Ryan Suter out for the season with a broken ankle, the return of Spurgeon, even if he’s not 100 percent, is very good news against high-powered Winnipeg.
