Vikings fan-favorite Jared Allen is now with the Chicago Bears, which means he doesn’t need a house in Minnesota anymore.
So it’s not surprising to find the mullet-friendly defensive end’s Chanhassen home is up for sale – at a price of $1.75 million, according to Zillow.
The 8,600-square-foot waterfront home was built in 2007 (one year before Allen was traded to the Vikings), and comes with a whole host of features: a fireplace, a jetted tub, an attached garage, security and sprinkler systems, a wet bar and more. Plus a “guest/nanny quarters,” a reading alcove and library, and a fully-furnished above-garage suite.
It’s described on multiple listing sites as a “stunning former Denali model home with European charm”; a “premium lot with private, expansive lake views.”
The Business Journal says Allen bought the two-story home in 2010 for about $1.3 million. The estimated mortgage on the place is $,6,628 a month.
Real Estate agent Jeffrey Dewing lists the property as having six bedrooms and six bathrooms – Zillow has it marked as six bedrooms and four bathrooms. Either way, based on the photo gallery, it looks quite large. Here are a few sample snaps.
Notable Minnesota Figures’ Homes
Big-name homes from Minnesota figures such as Allen go on sale from time-to-time.
Allen’s former teammate and current Viking Christian Ponder completed the sale of his Tonka Bay home in January. The house has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and went for just under the asking price of $1.095 million. Ponder and his wife, Samantha Steele, moved out last June.
Fellow former Minnesota athlete Brad Radke put his Florida home up for sale last month. The six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home was originally put on the market for $9.95 million – but the asking price has been dropped to about $6.8 million.
Then there are the non-athletes.
The Minneapolis home where Charles Schulz lived for a few years is now up for sale. Schulz lived in the Minnehaha Parkway home from 1955 until 1958, when he and his family moved to California. He left behind wall-paintings of Snoopy and Charlie Brown in one of the five bedrooms. Those will be removed however, and given to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in California.
Prince’s villa in the south of Spain was put on the market about a month ago, and has yet to find a buyer. The price for the 13-bedroom mansion with a tennis court, heated pool, outdoor jacuzzi, camera system, security room and more – $7.75 million.
