Gophers cornerback Jalen Myrick was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 222 pick in the seventh round on Saturday.
Myrick ran the fastest time at the NFL Combine last month for a defensive back, running a 4.28 40-yard dash. It was the fastest time ever recorded by a Big Ten player.

Myrick played in 47 games at the U of M, recording 93 tackles and 5 interceptions. He also returned kicks for the Gophers and had a career average of 24.5 yards per return.
Most experts had Myrick going in the fifth round, so the fact that he fell to the seventh could turn out to be a steal for Jacksonville.
He was the first Gophers player drafted in this year’s class.
Last year, former Gophers De’vondre Campbell and Ra’Shede Hageman (who were middle-round picks) helped the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl.
