Scott Diamond’s struggles continued when he gave up three home runs within a nine batter span to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
With his earned-run average climbing closer to six, Twins Daily wonders if it’s time to demote Diamond to Triple-A Rochester.
As Michael Rand points out, the 2013 Twins starting rotation has been just as bad as the 2012 rotation. That wasn’t supposed to be the case with Vance Worley, Mike Pelfrey and Kevin Correia bolstering the rotation.
The Twins have an MLB low 32 quality starts this season. That’s a quality start for the Twins 37.6 percent of the time. Minnesota got a quality start 38.3 percent of the time last season.
The 2012 ERA for Twins’ starters was a combined 5.40, compared to 5.32 this season.
By the way, Worley is 6-3 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts since being demoted to Triple-A Rochester.
